Prevalence of Multidrug Resistant Shiga Toxin-Producing Escherichia coli in Cattle Meat and Its Contact Surfaces
Background: Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) are group of E. coli causing bloody diarrhea. The goal of this survey was to determine the prevalence of multidrug resistant shiga toxin-producing E. coli in cattle meat and its contact surfaces. Methods: Swab samples (n=120) were randomly collected from meat and contact surface of butchery shops in Sharkia province, Egypt. Prevalence o...

Genome Sequences of Five Multidrug-Resistant Escherichia coli Sequence Type 117 Isolates Recovered from Dairy Calves
Escherichia coli sequence type 117 (ST117) strains have been recovered from poultry with colibacillosis, as well as from urinary tract infections and fatal septic infections in humans. To further investigate ST117 isolates recovered from nonpoultry food animals, we sequenced the genomes of five ST117 isolates from dairy calves in Pennsylvania.
متن کاملMulti-Locus Variable Number of Tandem Repeat Analysis for Rapid and Accurate Typing of Virulent Multidrug Resistant Escherichia coli Clones
One hundred E. coli isolates from Norway (n = 37), Sweden (n = 24), UK (n = 20) and Spain (n = 19), producing CTX-M-type - (n = 84), or SHV-12 (n = 4) extended spectrum β-lactamases, or the plasmid mediated AmpC, CMY-2 (n = 12), were typed using multi-locus sequence typing (MLST) and multi-locus variable number of tandem repeat analysis (MLVA). Isolates clustered into 33 Sequence Types (STs) an...
